How Are We Different From Just a Web Designer?
We are graphic design artists as well as web designers. What is the difference? Just because a web designer knows the basic fundamentals of putting a website together, it doesn't necessarily mean that they have an eye for color or detail, or that they have the knowledge or creative ability to create professional graphics or themed websites. Therefore, some web designers will create very basic plain websites, while others will rely on graphic design artists (like us) who create 'canned' pre-existing templates which can be bought anywhere on the internet and used to create websites for their clients. We remove the middle guy, and deign a template specifically for your business.
Templates vs. Custom Web Design
• Themed or 'canned' templates can be purchased all over the internet. This is perfectly fine for those that are on a tight budget or do not particularly mind if someone else has a website that looks exactly like their competitors. They are cost efficient providing you have a basic understanding of web design / HTML / CSS / Flash, etc... and can 'assemble' your website yourself. Otherwise, you will still have to hire someone to do this job for you over and above the price of the template ... and quite often, the job will cost approximately the same (or more) as it would to have a custom web site designed.
• Custom Web Design allows you to have a website created to your specifications so that it reflects you and your business. It should be as individual as you are ... and it should set you apart from your competition. When you enter a website, it creates a first impression, much like walking into the front door of that business. What do you want your website to say about you? Custom web design can allow you the freedom to decide.
In Retrospect ...
Don't be fooled. When you hire a web designer to create your website you are not always hiring a graphic designer as well. Your designer may be fabulous at web design elements, but the overall look and feel of your website might be compromised.
